Natalia Oreiro in a black comedy that is not afraid of the Grim Reaper

«Casi muerta» (2023), the second film directed by Fernán Mirás, offers a cinematic experience that skillfully combines elements of comedy, drama and romance. Based on the hit Basque comedy «Bypass» (2012), which received multiple Goya Award nominations, this adaptation features a cast headed by Natalia Oreiro, Diego Velázquez, Paola Barrientos, Ariel Staltari, Alberto Ajaka and Violeta Urtizberea.

The plot centers on the lives of María, Javi, Paula and Lucas, lifelong friends who are reunited when María is diagnosed with one month to live. As they face the harsh reality of the disease, repressed feelings emerge among the protagonists. However, circumstances complicate the possibility of these feelings materializing.

One of the highlights of Almost Dead is its acidic script far removed from political correctness, which manages to deftly balance romantic moments with fine black humor.
